Jump into the car with a local Aurora hunter and let them take you into the best Aurora watching places in the area. We will drive out of the town to reach places with zero light pollution and good view to the north sky. <\/span><\/p>\n

We always do our best to help you seeing the lights – the route is chosen according to the cloud maps and we can read satellite data to know when the lights are appearing. <\/span><\/p>\n

This tour is also great for photographers. You have an unique chance to learn night photography with a professional! <\/span><\/p>\n

We will visit 2 or 3 different observation places and if we have time, we will also make a fire to grill some snacks. The tour starts at 20:00 and we come back in between 23 and midnight, depending on the situation. <\/span><\/p>\n

Are you interested in northern lights? After this workshop you will know everything about them! You are going to learn to forecast and photograph the auroras.<\/p>\n

First we will have 2 hours lesson indoors. The lesson can be organized on any indoor place, for example at your hotel. You will learn mythology about the auroras. Next we will study what happens in the sun, space and earth’s magnetic field when the auroras are coming.<\/p>\n

After this, we will study choosing great photography locations using free tools from web as help and how to set your camera.<\/p>\n

Next we will go outside to practise the things we just learned. If we are lucky, we will really see the auroras. On other case we will shoot stars or light paintings.<\/p>\n

Aurora photography picnic from Hotel Kalevala<\/span>

Aurora picnic is the easiest Aurora activity we have. We start from Hotel Kalevala and we walk 1 kilometer to an island to get a bit further from the streetlights. <\/span><\/p>\n

When we reach the island, the guide will make a fire so we can warm up and grill some snacks. You will hear some interesting facts and stories about the lights and if we are lucky, we will witness them dancing over the lake.<\/span><\/p>\n

The guide is experienced night photographer and they can take some photos for you with the auroras. If we don’t see the auroras, we will take night portraits with lanterns. You will get the photos to your email later! If you have your own camera, the guide can also teach night photography for you.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Is there a quarantee for seeing the lights?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the Auroras are a natural phenomenom, we cannot guarantee observing them, although we always do our best to help you choose the best day to do the tour. Even without seeing the lights, the tours are unique experiences and we can guarantee that you will learn a lot interesting things and have a exiting experience! <\/p>\n

How do I prepare for the tour?<\/strong><\/p>\n

All you have to do is to be on time at the meeting place and wear a lot of warm clothes. We will provide for you some useful equipment, like headlamps, sitting pads and snacks. If you have a camera and tripod, you should definately take them with you! <\/p>\n
